still in the game

despite some challenges with my body, i'm still at it. my last work out i punched the heavy bag, lifted the kettleball and did jumping jacks. now my hand is pretty much healed and now dealing with pain in my right leg i think due to my hamstring.

i soaked in the jacuzzi the other night and have tried to stay active hoping it will heal on it own.
although it feels better i still get a moderate amount of pain when i left my foot in the shower. i will make a doctor appointment to get a referral to physical therapy to heal that and my hand.

experimented with juicing some and eating a variety of foods. taking grapefruit for lunch and keep my sugar intake to a minimum as well. in the meantime i keep moving everyday and now some my cloths are getting looser.

nagging injury

my nagging thumb injury is slowing me down and got me a little concerned. i've slacked off exercising in part to limit things i can do.  still get dull pain in it and weakness is still there. also believe i hurt my hand as well.

will try and do something tomorrow.  need to keep moving.

movement

while my right hand still heals, less pain and feels almost 100%, i have put together a pretty good workout routine. mainly aerobic  and calisthenics exercises have help me get moving again. recently at work i completed 100 jumping jack and 100 squats had me sweating buckets and the next few days my legs were very sore. my leg muscles will grow stronger because of my efforts.

in a couple of weeks my hand should be fully healed and i can't wait to start back on the heavy bag and other exercises.

seven minutes

today i started back exercising by dancing to you tube. it was a much smaller work out time wise than i had planned. my plan was for twenty minutes, but i managed only seven minutes.

i'm glad i did something and more importantly i got back on the horse. my thumb doesn't hurt unless i try and pick something up.  i considered going to my doctor to get an x ray and referral to physical therapy.

fell in shower

had just recovered from back injury, turns out due to changing bed support. the new support was too soft so i can to add my old support over the mattress.  then disaster struck and i fell in the shower and went to work icing my back, both knees and right thumb.  i was a dripping mess with ice covered in paper towels for half the day at work.   my thumb was the worst thing injured and doctor told me to my relief it was a bad spained tendon in the thumb itself that would heal in a few days or weeks. after three days it is pain free.

no exercise in two weeks while my body heal. at the doctor office my weight was 305 pounds, so that gives me a starting point for my renewed journey to lose the weight again. turns out my right leg got injured from the fall as well. will start icing that today.

then shortly in a few days start back exercising.

down for the count

on monday woke up in a lot of pain from my bad back.  turns out wall push i done sent a shock to my body.  been icing it and taking time off for it to heal.  disappointing since i was on a good streak there. over the years, unexpected injuiries have derailed my progress.   also suffered neck, shoulder and hand pain as well.

diet and new exercise

Ate some healthy food for this week lunch like carrots everyday and water in the morning. also fruit like bananas and grapes.   i try and balance bad food with good food so i get enough fiber to keep my system regular and add in vitamins to keep my energy level up.

i know exercise is the greatest medicine you can give your body everyday.  i work in a office and sit all day so exercise is critically important for me. i added a new exercise from watching you tube a few week ago.  it like doing jumping jacks with your legs and pushing your hands straight up at the same time.   it gets the heart pumping.

kept my exercise routine up by boxing on the heavy bag, dancing to you tube, working out on the elliptical, free weights and and the kettle bell. will get on the scale soon to get a starting weight.

working hard now

my wife told me today she can already see a small change in my appearance. i've been working hard in my home gym for 40 minutes everyday. mainly doing cardio like stuff and some weights.  just got though doing workout dancing to you tube james brown songs. i played several covers by other artist and said the best of last with the man himself. working up harder and harder and then when putting him on, going all out. finished covered in sweat all over.

like yesterday hitting the heavy bag i had sweet piling up on the basement floor.  a lot of my dna can be found down there.   checking my calories count burn for today is over 700. earlier in the week i burned over 500 calories on my elliptical.

been drinking more liquid, water, tea and other stuff.   changed to eating only when i'm hungry and eating more balance. when i eat something bad i follow up with something good.   feel good i've started out real good.

3X and Usain Bolt

Missed some gym opportunities this week.  heading down to the gym now. Inspired by the great Usain Bolt.  It reminds me of my running days thirty years ago when I was in the US Air Force. I wasn't the fasted runner but could run for days. never got tired.   It burned off seventy pounds in six months. Today  i had to face the fact I'm back in 3x shirt size, i got a lot of work to do.

306 pounds


Sprained my right shoulder three months ago and ended up in the ER. I had tried to do floor push ups and my  body wasn't ready for that. Took eight weeks off and got out of the habit of exercising regularly and unfocused. this caused me to gain twenty pounds.  

Trying to add more vegetables to my diet and get back on a solid exercise track again. Good news from exercising gave me a clean bill of health doing an in dept blood testing by my doctor. All the test came back negative, meaning no problems with my health.

I'm the healthiest person in my family. I have family members with high blood, diabetes, bad heart and other things. Exercise is the greatest medicine ever.
