Keep sugar away

Last Friday the scale said I had put on two pounds, after losing eight pounds the previous week. One big factor is I didn't exercise at all last week. I stuck to my low fat, low sugar diet.

In the mirror I can tell I lost inches and some of my clothes are loser and falling off. One day I felt sluggish so I added back more protein. I need to get back to sweating from my workouts and should see some more weight loss.

One key for my diet also is eating fruit everyday, eating six times a day with small meals, and trying new food items or exploring new ways to prepare some of my meals. Staying away from sugar is another strategy I use.

Return to Form: Lost eight pounds

After gaining 10 pounds in the last two months, I lost eight pounds in one week. It is a true statement that losing weight is 75% dieting and 25 % exercise. I'm living proof of that.

After injuring my back in April, I got off track of my goal. Even though I was exercising I had a big struggle physically and mentally getting back on track. When the doctor told me I needed to have surgery and recommended I don't run on cement any longer, all of that played on my mind. I started to panic and think negative thoughts like what if this or that happened.

When I worry I eat all the bad things to cope with bad news and thoughts. Started eating blueberry muffins, cookies, and other sweet things. So the scale kept going up and up each weigh in for the last two months, until I had gained ten pounds in that time frame.

The good news is I never gave up on my goal. Once I made a decision to not have surgery and go the natural way, that help put me back in the right direction. When my back hurts now, instead medicine, I use ice packs that bring down the pain significantly. Then last week I changed my diet drastically. I cut out the sweet stuff and ate five meals a day. I also stop eating high fat meat every other day. I now eat low fat everyday and only eat high fat meat and sweets on Saturday. Six days I eat low fat and one fat day a week.

I also started weighing myself every week. Last week I had gained some more weight and that when I changed my diet to see if I could reverse that trend. This morning I couldn't believe my eyes, when I got on the scale and had lost eight pounds in one week. So since so much came off that is my new diet.

I also stopped sitting down too long at home by limited watching TV and computer time. In addition to exercise, I keep myself busy around the house to burn calories and that combination has made a dramatic and positive turnaround.   Will talk to you later, until next time God Bless and take care of yourselves.

The Power of Fish

Tonight ate Salmon fish and hush puppies for dinner. The other day I cooked Tilapia Fish and made it into a sandwich. I love fish and can eat it each and everyday. At the end of the month I will fly home to Atlanta to visit and my brother takes me to a great seafood place there where I eat until I burst from all the good food.

Just finished a forty minutes work out dancing to funky songs of the sixties and seventies. Songs like want ads by the honey cone, it's your thing by the Isley Brothers and Say it Loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud by James Brown. I love those old songs with the kicking beat and funky guitar rhythms.

Tomorrow will get on the scale and will keep on track. Until next time take care and God Bless.
