March 30, 2013

Got on the scale today and got the biggest shock of my life. I've had a tough time lately with my back injury in the last month. Taking medications, going to doctor offices and emergency rooms. Didn't do a lot of exercising but I did stick to my diet. The scale read 279 pounds. Shocking because after all the challenges and obstacles I dealt with, in two weeks I had lost a amazing five pounds!!

This just floored me this morning.  Before I got on I was hoping I had lost a pound or two. So in three months I have lost a total of 17 pounds. Like my wife reminded me, I'm within three pounds of my first year goal of losing twenty pounds. I am stunned and humble and happy and simple amazed. I can also say I've lost a pant size, down to 46 inches in the waist now.

Great news and my journey continues on. Last night I did weight training and wall push ups for almost forty minutes while watching the NCAA March Madness Basketball game, where our University of Louisville defeated Oregeon Ducks to advance to the elite eight. Next Sunday we face off against the Duke Blue devil's for a chance to make the final four.

I'm still eating regular food and alternating days with fat days and light fat days. This past two weeks I had ice cream, collard greens, ribs, fish, jelly bean candy, potato chips, pecans and other nuts, water, low calorie drink mix, sausage biscuits, and pancake and syrup. Ate well but kept my stomach from getting stuffed. Still keep sweets to a minimum and staying active. Hope everyone is doing well and until next time take care and God Bless. Thanks for stopping by.

Did about 35 minutes of exercises the other day as I get back into the swing of things. My back still bothers me but I'm able to get around more. Still seeing doctors to decrease my pain even more.

This week had KFC chicken with sides, good stuff. Yesterday I cooked stew beef meat with rice on my low fat day. Tonight cooking collard greens and hamburgers. Usually I have greens the next day since I cook a big pot of them.

This weekend will get on the scale and see where I am at. The past few weeks have been challenging with my back and leg pain. I inspired my wife to get back in shape, she's amazed how different I look after only losing twelve pounds. She started working out yesterday.

Was inspired watching extreme weight loss this week when the man lost over 280 pounds in a year. He had the right attitude from the start and worked his butt off. I also read about the married couple who lost a combined 500 pounds in two years. Man you can do anything when you put your mind into it.

By the way, some have of you and wanted to have conversations with me over the Internet. Just wanted you to know, I don't spend a lot of time on the computer. So I blog and that's about it. My life is so busy it hard to get everything done. Thanks for the comments and encouragements. I wish everyone success in what you do. Until next time take care and God bless. Thanks for stopping by.

Good News!! after two weeks of extreme back pain and going to my doctor and the emergency room and taking a punch of pills that were doing absolutely nothing. My wife cured it by giving me a deep oil treatment with a massage tool. After ten minutes of that my pain was all gone. She took all of it away. Keep my finger cross it stays feeling good.

I was in so much pain I was walking crooked and had to stay in bed most of the day. Sitting made it worse and missed several days of work. I couldn't work out much in all that pain but now I'm back.

I stuck to my diet while I was down for the count. Drank a ton of water because the medicine was drying out my throat. It hard to believe how good I feel after that massage. In pain I was limping every where I went and each step was very painful. My back was in a knot of painful muscle spasms.

I can cancel my doctor appointment on Monday. Hadn't been in that much pain in ten years. I like natural ways to cure myself because medication have real bad side affects and now doctors are reluctant to give you pain medication since the attorney general of our state has cracked down on them from death related to prescription pain killer overdoses.

I'm definitely back and feeling real real good. Until next time take care and God Bless. Thanks for stopping by.

Surprised my back isn't healed yet, but I guess all the training I did took a bigger toll on me than I realized. On Monday after work my back was in so much pain, I took pain medications and went to bed early. Either my back was in pain or my leg. Today my back is fine and the leg pain is back.

After I write this post I will exercise for at least an hour. I know the pain I'm in is from over training. I was working out six days a week for 90 minutes. Didn't have enough rest days for my body to recover. Over training can do the reverse, make you worse off instead of better.

My new training method is two days of exercise and one to two days off. I read it can take up to 36 hours for the full benefits of resting. Still working out with the weights, dancing to You tube and working my core with stomach crunches and stomach bicycles.

Haven't been to the park since I injured my back on the bridge.  I realize I haven't added a new exercise in a while. Will need to look for a new thing to add to my routine to keep everything fresh and engage new muscles. It is good to change up your workout, to get the maximum benefits to your body.

Tonight I had two barbecue ribs sandwiches for dinner, last night I cooked Salmon fish. I love seafood, but my wife is not a fan and can't stand the smell of  fish cooking. My goal to minimize her discomfort by reducing the offending odor in someway.

Eating raisin bran cereal for fiber and tangerines at lunch time. Also taking small bags of chips for work and I only drink water at work. At home I drank water and drink mix with water that has only a few calories in it.

This week had my first taste of sweets. Had a few cookies my wife had and a bag of Jelly beans that I ate over several days. Cooked spinach with corn the other night. Drinking a lot of water and drank one soda this week. Tomorrow I'll probably eat tuna sandwiches or pancakes.

I will have to watch my food intake. Some days I eat too much. Trying to only eat when I'm hungry and keep my stomach light. I'm still in the game to lose the weight and get myself as healthy as possible. This is more than a weight loss journey, but a positive life style change I plan to do forever. Until next time take care and God Bless.

Down two more pounds in the last two weeks. This is after taking off a week from exercise due to re injuring my back while crossing the bridge last weekend. Now I've lost a combined twelve pounds since January 1st of this year. Basically i'm burning like 500 calories more than I take in every day. Good News indeed.

A lot of negative things came about in these last two weeks. Like yesterday while driving home from work, my low antifreeze light came on and car engine started smoking. Pulled into the nearest convience store parking lot and had to wait three hours for triple aaa to pick me up and tow my car into the shop. Turns out one of my radiator hoses had busted, but the engine runs fine.

I'm still going, in fact I will re-start my exercise program tonight. Took a week off to help my body recover. Taking medication and will ease off it next week. I do feel better. Until next time take care and God Bless.

March 11, 2013

A major setback has occurred. Yesterday my bad back went out in a major way. Had to call in sick to work and can't see my doctor until tomorrow. I hurt my back climbing the ramp on the new pedestrian bridge that opened last month. It is called the Big Four Bridge. My wife wanted me to go on it with her and so we went. While climbing it my sciatic nerve pain began to come on and had to rest for a minute after we got on the bridge.

Sore all day Saturday but was able to function. Then Sunday Morning the pain went into full blown pain. Normally I take my back pills and rest of a day and the pain will go down to tolerable or disappear. This morning still in a lot of pain and every step I take is painful.

Did work up a sweat on the bridge. Can't work out again until my back pain goes down. A major part of my motivation to lose the 100 lbs was to eliminate or significantly reduce my health issues. The two big ones are back pain and sleep apnea. Last year I had to spend almost four thousand dollar out of pocket treating those illness.

Real life does happen to all of us. Can't wait to get back on my routine. My next weigh in is in five days. Until next time take care and God Bless.

March 7, 2013

Two days ago, I did jumping jacks for 90 minutes, burning between 880 to 1800 calories. It depended on if i did them moderately or fast. I think I did them somewhere in between. My arms were so sore yesterday that I took the whole day off from working out.

Tonight I will make tuna and vegetables for dinner. Recently purchased a very large container of pancakes and syrup from Sam Club since I eat these all the time.  From Sam Club I buy all my meat, coffee, chips, and cooking oil. This will save both money and time, buying things in bulk. Walking around those large warehouses burn a lot of calories too.

Can't wait to put my heavy boxing bag together again, after my basement is done. Will do some weight lifting, work the core and get on the elliptical and dance tonight. Until next time, take care of yourselves and God Bless.

march 5, 2013

Since I only lost one pound in the last two weeks, I increased my exercise time to 1 hour and 30 minutes a day. Also realized I had been taking in more calories due me buying bigger bags of individual chips for lunch. Because of that cut down to two bags of chips instead of three for lunch at work.

I took off more days from exercises than planned. this new routine wore my body out.  will make myself some fish tonight for dinner. Yesterday had a big steak and salad.

Hoping for bigger result next time next week. I can't wait until my basement is done so I can use my whole gym. Until next time take care and God bless.

March-1-2013

Tomorrow I will get on the scale and post what the results are. I will be happy as long as I'm still losing weight. Sticking to  the plan to the letter with one exception. That was yesterday when i took off due to workmen at my house and I didn't get into my home until later in the night.

Added more vegetables, had spinach and corn with my steak which was a great dinner the other night. Tonight had hamburger and fries. On my low fat day yesterday, ate out at Subway since the workmen were at my home.

Worked up a sweat on the Elliptical, jump rope, danced to You Tube, wall push ups, and pump iron. Hadn't worked on core recently, will add that back in next time. I want to get back to the park and do some interval training, couldn't do that this week because of the snow, rain and cold conditions. Hopeful the weather will clear up soon.

My energy level has definitely went up, I don't feel sleepy at work like I use to. Also I can easily get out of bed and actually getting to work really early as a result. This is amazing because i'm not a moringing person and I love to sleep.  I don't mind losing the weight slowly because really this a life time change and will do this the rest of my life.
If you want you can leave a comment on what your doing and what's going on with you too. Well until next time take care of yourselves and God bless.
